Is 1080p HD only important if you watch movies on your phone?

No, basically anything that you look at with a magnifying glass will look better.
Sorry, but opinions vary. I my opinion, full HD screens on mobile devices are pointless.
Distance from which you look at the screen and screensize make it futile. Most photos and websites you look at don't profit., either. And I sincerely doubt many could tell if a video is 720p or 1080 on a 4.7-in screen held at arms-length.
Funnily, before the first 1080p screens came to mobile, most people agreed.
They also agreed that those screens would needlessly suck extra battery juice and processing power. Time flies...
I believe Full HD screens are just a crutch for manufacturers to claim they innovate and offer superduper extra value.
But that's just me.
