We were saying a few days ago that Apple was tipped to be readying a 128GB ‘Ultimate’ iPad – doubling the storage of the current top model.
Somewhat surprisingly, Apple has fired out a press release detailing – yes – a 128GB iPad. We weren’t expecting it that soon!
As rumoured, the 128GB iPad is very much a fourth generation iPad, with the fifth generation iPad now not expected till October/November.
As such, 128GB iPad specs are identical to those of the fourth generation iPad unveiled a few months ago.
Specifically, you’re looking at a 9.7in Retina display (2048 x 1536), A6X processor, FaceTime HD camera, and Lightning connector.
Apple is keen to point out that there are now a whopping 800,000 apps available from the App Store, with 300,000 specifically developed for the iPad.
“With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and every day they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs,” yelled Phil Schiller, Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing.
“With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”
The 128GB iPad will go on sale on Tuesday, February 5, priced (as predicted by moi) at £639 Wi-Fi only and £739 cellular.
