May 14: next-gen Lumia(s) to be unveiled

May 14: next-gen Lumia(s) to be unveiledWe were slightly disappointed – but not entirely surprised, to be fair – when the buzz surrounding a new Nokia phone this week yielded the ultra-modest Asha 210.

If high-end Nokia smartphones are more your thing, mark May 14 in your diary. That’s when Nokia says it’ll unveil the next-generation Lumia(s).

Invites for the May 14 Nokia Lumia event are now doing the rounds, and they’re typically vague.

However, the Finnish manufacturer does specifically confirm that we’re talking Lumia, so fear not if you’re anticipating a feature phone letdown.

In particular, Nokia says: “You are warmly welcome to join us in London on 14 May for the next chapter of the Lumia story.”

The accompanying image rocks the words “The Nokia Lumia story continues” and “See what’s next” (look at it; there’s definitely something optical implied there as opposed to just literally seeing what’s next).

Believe it or not, come the May 14 Nokia Lumia event, it’ll be more than eight months since the Finns launched the Lumia 920.

More recently, the focus has been on affordable Windows Phone 8 handsets, including the Nokia Lumia 520 and Nokia Lumia 620, but consensus is we should expect a new Nokia Lumia flagship, perhaps some sort of EOS and/or Catwalk.

Same here, wasn't expecting a new range so soon. Probably not be available to quite a bit later in the year though :/
