Rumours of a souped-up Samsung Galaxy S surfaced earlier today, when Dmitriy Ryabinin of hi-tech.mail.ru posted this tweet. The tweet contains a link to a comparison sheet showing a Samsung Galaxy S “2011 Edition (i9001)” with a 1.4GHz processor.
Those rumours were quickly confirmed by Samsung Russia, who announced that the 1.4GHz Samsung Galaxy S Plus will be coming to Russia at the end of April, priced 23,990 rubles. That’s about £525 in our money.
Other than its sexy new 1.4GHz processor, the Samsung Galaxy S Plus will have a 4in Super AMOLED touchscreen, 8GB of on-board memory and HD video recording capability. It’ll run Gingerbread (Android 2.3) with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 on top.
Of course, we're still awaiting a firm release date for the Samsung Galaxy S II, with its dual-core processor and meaty 4.3in screen.
No word yet on if or when we might see the Samsung Galaxy S Plus outside of Russia.
