We were pretty certain that Sony Ericsson’s Xperia range from 2011 (all 672 of them) would get the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) treatment. We heard as much last month.
However, just to be extra clear, the lovely Martina Johansson has confirmed the same on Sony Ericsson’s Product Blog. Thanks, ma’am.
Martina writes: “There have been a few questions here on the blog and in our support forums regarding our upgrade plans beyond Gingerbread. We can today confirm that we plan to upgrade the entire 2011 Xperia™ portfolio to the next version of Android known as Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich.
“We are working on merging our current Xperia™ experience with the new features in Android 4.0. More detailed information regarding this upgrade, timing and global availability will be communicated in due course here on the blog.”
That Xperia “portfolio” includes the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Arc S, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo and Neo V, Xperia mini and mini pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia active, and Xperia ray. Phew.
Heck, even the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will get pumped full of Ice Cream Sandwich goodness.
Nice one, SE.
