Can a 4G iPad Air be unlocked?

What network is it on I hear you ask?

Erm undecided. I'm looking to buy a 2nd hand 4G iPad Air, haven't decided what network I'll use it on yet. On eBay there is a considerable price difference between unlocked and network locked devices, I thought maybe I could get a locked one and get it unlocked for a small fee.

P.S. I have an O2 mobile contract and a T Mobile contract, in case I can use the sim in the iPad to unlock

It'll be expensive to unlock an ipad unless you're the original owner.

Better to buy unlocked or you're in for a lot of hassle.

Taa, think that's what I'll do...
or I just need to convince myself that I can stick with my existing iPad Air WiFi and just tether (when I get a decent contract)

Considered that but if I'm going to buy a MiFi then I want one of those 4G capable ones but they're quite a fair bit (the Huawei ones are anyway)
