Anyone on 4G, do you think it's worth it?

Is anyone using 4G in the UK? What are your thoughts? How are the speeds? Is it worth the money?

It depends on where you are located. If you are outside of metropolis it doesn't seem to matter.
3G is 14Mbps and above - should be enough for all your needs.

I've used EE 4G since launch, impressed by the speed especially in busy areas like football stadiums where there is so many users reducing 3G to a crawl. Is it worth any extra money NO. Luckily I don't pay the bill

Using EE in Glasgow the answer is an overwhelming no. Using the alcatel y800 bought from curry's posted on hukd. The max speeds I've seen are 20mps dl which was consistent all the way until I reached the city centre. Thinking the speeds would fly there but no they reduced to a crawl with dl around 200-800kps. On top of that the 3G+ speeds have reduced to a crawl from around 12mps on now I get around 1mps! Simply put EE have messed this up big time and the only thing I can look forward to is the competitors ! Rant over!

If you can get a good deal, why not? Vodafone recently migrated me to a 4G tariff (even though I don't live in a 4G area). For an extra £5/month I'm getting 8GB data (instead of 2GB) and Spotify Premium.

Speed-wise it isn't worth paying a premium yet. Wait for the LTE-Advanced rollout (EE have just started it). That should bring speeds that 3G technologies (and many landline connections) can only dream of.

I get around 40Mb/s at home and 28-30Mb/s when out and about. The speed is amazing but too bad its on EE where I get a limit of 2GB per month. If you get it get it on 3.

Definitely. I thought it would be a gimmick, but it's actually pretty awesome! I now get reception in places I didn't previously. It definitely looks like they've let the rest of the network suffer to concentrate on making 4G better. Only cost me another £5 a month on Vodafone and got an extra 6GB of data and free Sky Sports too.

I'm on the vodafone deal for Spotify so it's worth it for the data...
Plus I'm on a friends/family deal (20% off) so can't complain...
coverage wise I don't actually use the 4G benefit!!! it's just the tarriff I'm using as I'm just outside of Manchester.. 3G is fast enough for anything I need generally.. Never really had the need to sit and watch Netflix when I'm in Manchester or London when I'm down there..
