What the hell is going on over at LG? It seems there are two different phones called the Optimus G Pro coming out, a trio of L-Series devices on their way cryptically linked by the number “4”, and LG apparently thinks that's a good time to start selling the original, now-dated Optimus G here in the UK. Good luck with that.
Today's news concerns the Optimus G Pro, and is simply confirmation that the rumours weren't wrong: LG has indeed launched the Optimus G Pro in South Korea with a completely different screen size to the existing model on its way to Japan.
That would be the 5in one that's featured in a fair few rumour pieces over the past couple of months, and has now been officially announced and will go on sale in Japan in April.
However, this week LG has confirmed that a 5.5in handset also bearing the Optimus G Pro name has been lined up for its home market of South Korea. Along with the bigger screen – full HD like the smaller version – the Korean Optimus G Pro also has a bigger 3,140mAh battery but is otherwise the same as the Japanese version.
That means 1.7GHz S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 13MP camera, 4G connectivity and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The downside is neither the 5in nor the 5.5in Optimus G Pro seem to be heading westwards with any great urgency. Maybe that's because LG is getting another screen size ready to stretch our sanity to the very limit...
