It's time to catch up with some Nokia rumours, and specifically news of a couple of upcoming devices that have been mentioned on some testing documents over in India.
The first is a low-end 4.5in smartphone along the lines of the Lumia 525, but the the second is the more interesting of the two: an 8.3in full HD tablet going by the codename of RX-115.
Rumours of a second, smaller Nokia Lumia tablet surfaced not long after the original – the 10.1in Lumia 2520 – was unveiled at Nokia World in October.
The so-called Nokia Lumia 2020 was revealed to have an 8in full HD screen, the same Snapdragon 800 processor as its big brother and stylus support, and we were told to expect it to arrive at Mobile World Congress 2014 next February.
And that's pretty much just what the latest leaks are suggesting too. Indian import/export tracking site Zauba.com has listed the arrival of a Nokia RX-115 in the country from China, complete with the following description:
CELLPHONE PHONE-RX-115 FULL TOUCH DEVICE 8.3 IPS FULL-HD LCD INCH S/SIM NANO 4FF(INTER COMPANY USE FOR TESTING & EVALUA
In other words, the device in question has an 8.3in IPS LCD with a full HD resolution and SIM card support. The listed value is INR9423, which works out at under £100, though all that really tells us is that the figure given probably has little bearing on the final price.
The second mystery Nokia is the Nokia RM-977, which sports a 4.5in screen and dual-SIM support. Again, the listed value of INR7965 (£79) shouldn't be taken too literally, but does suggest we're talking about something similar to the Lumia 525 – potentially even a dual-SIM version of the Lumia 525 itself.
With both devices actively in testing as we speak, we're happy to go along with the MWC 2014 launch timeframe rumours for both, but we'll confirm once something concrete emerges.
