Accessing PC files from an Android phone

I'm looking for a solution that'd let me access my PC files from my Android phone, so Word and Excel documents for example. An acquaintance has done so before, but not sure how it worked!

You mean, you don't just want to transfer the files?
You wanti to access your PC? Like logmein?

I'm...not...actually sure lol.

It seems that there are different ways to do it? Basically I can copy to the cloud, or remotely log into PC? Might try out this cloud thing, Dropbox looks easy enough! :D

Or Google Drive - seeing you use Android..

I guess it depends also on what you need to do with what file types. And are they sensitive etc...
Cloud backup is probably more efficient than loging into your PC to use your desktop on the phone?
Mobile office apps are much better suited for touch etc...
But if you wanted to do weird things like convert a video or sound file, you would probably want access to your desktop?
Best you ask yourself if it's really necessary.
