Acer Iconia Finally Arrived
JanSt / MOD Jan. 12, 2012 at 13:55
Good price,
But not "arrived", eh
February 11 - in Expansys-Speech that could mean August...

It's quite old hardware now. Price is not great either.
I would rate it @ £180, £210 is a little expensive, but reasonable.

Yeah, well... For someone craving a large screen without superpowers, it is an alternative.
Hope it's more scratch-proof than the Liquid range...

Slipped from February 11 to February 14. Hopefully, not a trend. The Acer Iconia Smart is already a few months late.

And slipped again... 23/03/12... Will it ever come, Acer/Expansys?
JanSt / MOD Feb. 22, 2012 at 14:01
gee...it's been 'coming' since LAST year's MWC LOL
JanSt / MOD Mar. 30, 2012 at 10:36
NOW Expansys removed it entirely, by the way....

Can't say I was looking to buy one or any other Acer product for that matter.

For €220 I would've bought on for back-up... But I wasn't gonna queue

I can vouch for Acer's laptops being far better than people take them for.

True.
You should see my better half's Acer... 4 years old and so much tweaking and abuse hahaha
She killed half the Win services incl the, gulp, Explorer, and it runs the latest Adobe Premiere without a hiccup

Mine runs a clean copy of Windows 8 (or the preview thing for it anyway). It's never going to be classed as "fast" with a 1st gen i5 inside it, but it's quick enough for work, browsing and the odd film (oh and Mobot ).
JanSt / MOD Mar. 30, 2012 at 12:59
...PS The laptop is 4 years old; not my better half
JanSt / MOD Mar. 30, 2012 at 12:59
... oops...
matt101101 / MOD Mar. 30, 2012 at 13:00
Oh, and none of the keys have fallen off the KB yet, which is more than can be said for a certain other Korean laptop I own...I'll give you a hint, its name starts with Sam and ends with sung...

The "tweaking and abuse" made that all the funnier .

Yes.
The keyboards are excellent. If they were macbookishly backlit, they'd be the best.

Also, the 4-year old battery still giver her about 2 hrs of video watching!

Acer is not bad, but it's not cheapest either. I prefer Dell for it's price to value range for home use and Lenovo for business. Dell does come with back lit keyboard. Still have studio from 2009 as primary laptop. So far only broken thing is card reader - it ejects the card and i'm too lazy to open it up and fix it.
