If there’s one thing that really annoys us, it’s when manufacturers start teasing products early, and take freakin’ ages before making the blasted things available. Can you see where I’m going with this?
I first mentioned the Acer Liquid Jade smartphone and Liquid Leap band FOUR MONTHS AGO, and now we’re finally told that they’ll definitely go on sale in the UK. At some point.
The unisex Acer Liquid Leap has a 1in touch display, and a mostly-rubber body for durability. IPX7 waterproofing means you can wear it carefree in the shower and/or swimming pool, while the battery promises seven days between charges.
In terms of functionality, the Acer Liquid Leap can pair with a phone and serve to control music, but we imagine it’ll predominantly be used to count steps, measure distance, and monitor calories burned and sleeping patterns.
Fancy it? The Acer Liquid Leap will be available in white, black, green, pink and orange for £79.99 from late September.
Price and availability for the Acer Liquid Jade smartphone are less clear, though we know specs will include a 5in 720p display, quad-core Mediatek processor, 1GB of RAM, 13MP/2MP cameras, and a 2,100mAh battery. 4G LTE? Don’t be silly.
Both the Acer Liquid Jade smartphone and Liquid Leap band will be shown off in more detail at IFA 2014 next week. Again, our colleagues at Wareable will bring you more wearable news than you could possibly hope to consume in a single lifetime, direct from the bratwurst-littered floor.
