How do you activate blackberry messenger ?

I have already topped up £5 and all I have to do is actually activate BBM, but I can't seem to find out how to do that. Can somebody please help me?

Lebara Don't support Blackberry

Any others? Ask and I'll add them to the list.

Do not post a question until you've spoken to your network's customer service department, 9 times out of 10 they'll be of far more help than we can be.

call 450 and ask to 'opt in'. That will set you up until you 'opt out' and take £5 of your credit every month.

If you don't have £5 come the end of you BBM month then the service will be 'suspended' until you top up again (by at least a fiver)

PLEASE NOTE 450 is for Orange only - use the customer services number for your provider - NOT LEBARA AS THEY DON'T SUPPORT BBM!!!

talk to operator

JanSt / MOD  Sep. 10, 2011 at 09:08

Dial 450 to opt in to bis - blackberry internet services. You will pay £5/month for you necessary data add-on. Ring orange customer care or walk into one of their shops if you experience problems :)

CTPAHHIK  Sep. 29, 2011 at 12:14

if your contract does not already include BIS (BB Services required for email and BBM) you will have to pay an extra fiver. It's possiblet that you can get a discount.

yasminlopez  Dec. 2, 2011 at 16:16

RIGHT. Im experiencing problems too, But this should work for most of you;
1. Call 450, then press '2' after that... press '2' again
2. then they will take you to talk to someone for customer service...
3. ask them to activate blackberry services for you.
4. then, they will do so.
5. after they do, you will receive a confirmation text; delete the text.
6. and then turn your phone off and on again, and then...
7. YOU WILL HAVE BLACKBERRY SERVICES.

- as far as ive heard :)

Yes, your customer care can help you.

JanSt / MOD  Feb. 7, 2012 at 13:36

You all

Since BBM relies on Blackberry's BIS but also on your phone network, and also on some other factors, it really is best to contact your network's customer care with some of the issues you are describing.

In addition, your data allowances may vary, so you cannot expect anyone here to answer related questions without spelling out all pertinent details.

Ring your customer care!!! (usually the cc number is included on your SIM)

ONCE your customer care confirmed that your BB is set up on their end, you can ask here for additional info.

We end up talking in circles, if you do not take the first step of making sure your network has set you up correctly.
We also cannot say how much data you are allowed if you do not say what kind of contract or add-on you have; on what network etc etc...

Sorry. Not trying to brush you off.
You are most welcome to ask any questions here, but I'm sure you don't just want guesses in reply, right?

Im on o2, what number do i have to text or call to get bbm or what do i need to do to get it i have my blackberry9300 since june and i cant get bbm or connection to the internet what do i do?

Update on this thread for anyone looking.
Call 450, then press 4 for BBM & Advisor, they will set it up for you & explain what will happen & they will send you a link that you have to save to automatically get BBM every month. Hope this helped.

Hi, I have a BlackBerry Curve 8310 as a pass down from my mum. Then when my mum passed away I tried to add a friend on bbm as we had never had problems and my friend didn't recive a request. Now my dad will not ring up 450 is there any other way of activating bbm :{

As far as I can tell, Lebara don't do BlackBerry data plans?!

Their customer care number is 5588 from your mobile, or 0870 075 5588 from a UK landline. I suggest you ring and ask them ;)

There is no way to outwit your network. You need to pester them. You cannot deal with BB directly.
But 2 days is pretty pathetic. It to 2 MINUTES on Vodafone and O2 Ireland... 2 days? o_O
