Alternative iOS photo album

Can I change the way my iPhone manages my photos on iOS 8? I'd like my pictures in chronological order, the end. No 'Collections', no 'Moments'! What if I jailbreak?

It's a mess... In "Moments" your photos are in chronological order - but I noticed that is severely buggy. Also: if you edit a photo it gets a new location in the timeline... Rubbish. They should be in order of creation imho...
As to an alternative gallery, there are a few in the AppStore, but I found them all unimpressive.\
And I had a peek: many are not updated to iOS 8, yet. That will probably cause many issues in terms of sharing etc... Also: bear in mind a 2nd gallery will quickly fill up your storage. The images will still be in the default gallery, also.

Wait for iOS 8.1: rumour consensus is that Apple will bring back the Camera Roll and fix other issues. The changes are related to the way Apple intends to handle images on MacOS - they're going to kill iPhoto and Aperture and sort of combine the two with Finder. That meant they had to preempt how the iDevices deal with images. Hopefully they get a grip on it come iOS8.1 and Mac Yosemite....
But I'm with you: it's been messy for too long.
I notice also complete idiocy in terms of what can be deleted and what cannot be deleted without a sync. That is unacceptable. Space on smartphones is costly: let me delete what I want, when I want to.

PS My Roll https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/myroll-smart-camera-roll-organizer/id513097075?mt=8 That has been updated to iOS 8, and it has decent reviews...

I just installed MyRoll on an iPhone 6. It's not bad, and it does what you want. Handles 20,000 photos quickly!!! And it doesn't create a massive cache. Not bad for a free app!

PS: ah..., not that good after all. I just edited a few photos in Snapseed. They are correctly in the default Gallery under Today or Recently Added. In the MyRoll app they do not show. It's not refreshing. Apparently, I didn't add anything today. WRONG. FAIL.
