Amazon Kindle Fire 3 specs revealed

Amazon Kindle Fire 3 specs revealedWe’ve been told to expect at least three new Amazon Kindle Fires before Christmas, specifically a new 7in base model (the third such chap) and a pair of HD guys at 7in and 8.9in.

We’ve had leaked spec sheets for the new Kindle Fire HD tablets (Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, anyone?), and now it’s time for Amazon Kindle Fire 3 specs.

We’re thanking BGR once again, which is thoroughly establishing itself as King of the Amazon Kindle Fire Leaks. In turn, Boy Genius Report credits “trusted sources”.

Starting with the Amazon Kindle Fire 3 processor, it’ll supposedly be a dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP 4470 clocked at 1.5GHz, as currently found on the larger Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9.

That should do the trick nicely, and indeed benchmarking scores are said to be twice that of the current OMAP 4430.

Other Amazon Kindle Fire 3 specs are said to include a 1280 x 800 resolution on the 7in display (a bump from 1024 x 600), 1GB of RAM, Jelly Bean (Android 4.2.2), and a choice of 8, 16 or 32GB internal storage.

Somewhat confusingly, that spec sheet means the Amazon Kindle Fire 3 will be pretty much the same on paper as the 2012 7in Amazon Kindle Fire HD. On the plus side, it's expected to keep the same price point. No arguments there.

Finally, as we heard with the HD rumours, the Amazon Kindle Fire 3 will rock sharper edges in a departure from the present curviness.

Fancy it? The Amazon Kindle Fire 3 launch is tipped for late September or thereabouts.

I'm sorry, can you repost this tomorrow? This got all blurry and became one with a hundred other Android tablet 'announcements". Then I fainted.
