Thought the Kindle 4 with buttons landed at same time.

Anyway the reason behind the Kindle Fire only being US is going to be down to licensing issues for their app store I'd suspect and maybe language issues for a european launch.
As it's pretty much turned out to be a beta product let them keep it.

Every Kindle has been US-only for some months before making it to the rest of the world.
Barnes & Noble's Nooks are US-only, too.

Yes, Only a branding corporation of Amazon's clout could pull of the sale of a rubbish Android tab in, only, the United States... Same goes for the original Nook Color which was a farce of a tab. The store licensing is certainly an issue, and anther issue is probably the cloud-based silk-browser...
