What do American mobile numbers start with?

I've taken this persons mobile number down wrong, I think!
What should an American mobile number start with?

They don't have set presets in the US.
Like we have 07***
They just have a local number, so if you live in Orange, CA you get a number starting 714-***
Live in Knoxville, TN then it starts 865-***
It's the same areacode as landline.

Used to get a couple of pre-pay Verizon phones when in Florida so family can split up and do what we want and keep in touch.
Also have a cousin who moved to Tennessee a couple years ago.

So in your phone it should start with +00 then rest of the number.

US phone numbers should be starting with +1, where 1 is international code for US. When you are in US there is no need to dial 1, you simply enter 10 digit number. Outside of US you need to add +1 to a 10 digit US number.
