Android 2.3.4 treats for Xperia Play

Android 2.3.4 treats for Xperia PlayAhh, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. From “iPhone killer” to £200 bargain bin laughing stock in five short months. Actually, that’s probably a tad harsh. For £200, I’m almost tempted to get one for a laugh. Almost.

Anyways, mockery aside, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is reportedly receiving a couple of treats in its latest Gingerbread (Android 2.3.4) update.

First up, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will now be able to capture video in 720p HD. A member of xda-developers has even posted a seven-second video clip on YouTube. In said clip, we see two dogs sleeping, one of which briefly raises his head. Exciting stuff.

The second treat, according to Xperia Blog, is the ability for Sony Ericsson Xperia Play owners to enable/disable auto brightness. Apparently the feature wasn’t included in the 2.3.4 update for the Xperia Arc and Neo. A small victory for the Play, I guess.

Does anyone actually have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, or “PlayStation Phone” if you prefer? Worth a shot at £200?

Even at £200 still too expensive goes to show that even at this bargain basement price no one seems interested? if SE really wanted to millions of these they could go all HP touchpad and lower the price by another £100 and we could witness another masssive sell out!

Yep, sell it for a hundred, include some free games, and take a bit extra for truly great games.
But 400.00 without a killer game on launch?

Clearly I'm a fool, but you are all taking the mickey of this for being a poor deal at £200. Yet HUKD has it at 1188 degrees. That is generally a temperature for a v good deal. Added to that it looks like expansys are selling a fair number based on their waiting list.
At £400 it was the wrong price, at £200 it looks like a good deal to me.

£130 is my line, under that, I'll buy one, just for the hardware. Those PS buttons look sweeeeeet for gaming as well :)
