Do you think there could be an Android backlash?

People are saying good things about bada and there were rumours about HTC dissing Android...

Unlikely, companies have invested billions into embracing android over the past couple of years, there's no way they'll just drop it and move on, not whilst sales (and therefore profit), are still through the roof anyway. Samsung are more likely to drop wp7 than android. As HTC, it's a rumor, that's all, it'd be the tech shock of the year if HTC suddenly decided to drop Android, they were Android's Europe main partner during Android's early days.

People can say good things about Bada while still being nice about Android ;)

I really like Android. It's one of the most flexible smartphone OSs out there, but it does have a few weaknesses, just like every other OS (a bad thing about Bada is lack of available apps for example). Either way, I don't see an Android backlash happening any time soon.

I wouldn't call it a backlash - rather, rediscovering reality. There's gonna be flux. For many folks Android or iOS - not Symbian, Palm, BB or WinMo were the first contact with smartphones. At the same time, longterm users of those 1st gen smart OSs have to start looking elsewhere...
I've see folks who, after a year or two, were iPhone-bored, and I've seen people fall out of love with Android etc etc.... The whole app craze and firmware update mania has created an attitude of constant expectation. Noone knew 18 months ago kids would embrace Blackberries while tradition BB users would look elsewhere to have more play with work...

Hardware makers also realise that Android doesn't guarantee success. Almost all the Android makers have a flop or two.

Lastly, it is impossible to predict where wp7 is going. If Nokia/MS flop, Nokia might rethink Meego, or revitalise Symbian or, heck, make an Android. And, either way, that would impact other manufacturers...

blah blah blah :psewhere...
