I used to use 3G watchdog, but recently I started using Onavo count.
Shows a breakdown of usage by day, week, month, app, notifies of data hog apps.
Very nice indeed

Not used any apps since ICS built it in to the os, used to use 3G watchdog on GB

I use "My Data Manager". It seems accurate, has a nice widget, can monitor wifi, roaming and mobile data usage and has a nice breakdown of all the data you use.

The best thing about it...it's free.

Other than roaming, which I'll avoid android seems to do all that anyway, unless Samsung removed it.

MIUI ROMs have Guard application build in, which allows you to select which app has access to 2G/3G and WiFi. I don't know if this Guard app can be ported or downloaded from market.
It's great as you can lock out data hogs completely and only allow WiFi usage. Or lock everything out, except email and messaging, when you are roaming.
