Android Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is imminent

Android Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is imminentIf you've invested in Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 in the past few months, you're probably looking at some of the other Android tablets that have emerged since then and feeling a little left out.

Well Samsung has a small consolation prize for you: you'll soon be upgrade that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich interface of yours to the current-generation Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.

Samsung's smartphone division is fairly chewing up the opposition right now, but when it comes to tablets the Koreans don't seem to have found the right formula yet – though to be fair that could be said for most Android OEMs.

But it's by no means writing off its current generation of devices, and according to SamMobile the long-anticipated Jelly Bean update will be landing any day now for 7in Galaxy Tab 2 users.

The Samsung-watching site says the update has already been released in France, which suggests other European markets – including the UK – won't have long to wait.

The Android 4.1.1 update is heading out over the air, so there's no need to go the Kies route unless you really want to.

TBF i think the galaxy tab 2 is quite a good option in the increasingly tough cheap tablet arena. It may not have the top of the range specs but it has got a HDMI out option (beating the Nexus 7), micro SD (beating the nook HD, nexus 7and kindle fire) and currently going for £115 after cashback its quite a bargain

The only other tablet I would say is comparable is the Acer a110 but that has a lower build quality but higer specs (and is out of stock atm and probably wont be back in stock until after the cashback deal is done!)
