We’re still getting over the fact that Google I/O saw pretty much no new stuff (unless you count the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google/Nexus Edition), having been promised – by the rumour mill, anyway – various new devices and a new version of Android.
Turns out, however, looking back, Key Lime Pie did make a couple of cheeky appearances.
We’re crediting Reddit, and a thread suitably titled Watching a Google I/O Session and noticed what the Android was eating!
Half way through some sort of developer video, the ubiquitous green Android is seen sitting on a bench, inexplicably wearing a top hat, and tucking into a delicious slice of – you guessed it – Key Lime Pie.
The same session features a game in which a character looks to summon a power, and included in the half dozen options are Chrome, Jelly Bean and – again – Key Lime Pie.
The in-joke appears to confirm the Key Lime Pie moniker for Android 5.0, though in the meantime we’re still awaiting Jelly Bean Android 4.3.
Google has a habit of pre-announcement tomfoolery. Back at Mobile World Congress 2012, when we were officially still on Ice Cream Sandwich, Mountain View left out a big bowl of Jelly Beans.
