Just yesterday I penned Android Lollipop 5.0: when will my phone be updated? and it turns out the good people at Android were firing out a tweet almost simultaneously.
Android Lollipop 5.0 is now officially making its way through the airwaves to ‘most Nexus devices’. More below!
Obvious question: What the heck does “most” Nexus devices mean? Fortunately, that’s clarified over on a Google Product Forum discussion.
Here’s the official word: “The Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012 & 2013) & Nexus 10 will all receive an update to Android 5.0 (Lollipop). The Galaxy Nexus will not get an official update. ”
The Over The Air Android Lollipop 5.0 update started rolling out for the Google Nexus 5, Nexus 7 Wi-Fi (2012 & 2013) and Nexus 10 yesterday. Furthermore, the spanking new Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are on the receiving end of a “minor update”, too.
Alas, users of the Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 LTE will have to wait a little longer, as “nothing is known at this time”. The Android Lollipop 5.0 update is coming; we just don't know when.
To check for software updates on your Nexus device, hit Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now, though be advised that it might take up to three weeks for the update to appear.
