Android Market gets phone compatibility checker

Android Market gets phone compatibility checkerThe Android Market just keeps growing and growing, with both the number of available apps and the number of different Android handsets having sky-rocketed over the past year.

So it's good news, then, that Google has added a compatibility check feature to the Android app store that enables you to confirm whether an app your looking to download is actually compatible with your handset.

Until now, developers have had to flag up any compatibility issues in the text description of the app listing itself, a far from ideal situation given the potential for error, not to mention the fact that new handsets are being released all the time.

The new feature expressly confirms whether or not an app is compatible with any handsets you've registered in the Market, so you can hopefully download with more confidence – or spot compatibility issues before you proceed any further.

High time.
Though on occasion I sideloaded apps that were supposed to be incompatible, but they still worked to a degree...
