Navigating the Android Market ain’t great, but a couple of weeks ago Google announced that a fairly major makeover was in store, including a decidedly Windows Phone 7-esque tiled UI.
Good news for those keen to see the back of the old Market, as Phandroid reports that the update is now rolling out. Well, to users in the States, at least.
As well as the overhauled UI, the new Android Market will introduce Books and Movies. Google boasts that it has “the world’s largest collection of digital books”, with over 3 million titles available.
Our transatlantic cousins will be able to rent movies from $1.99, and they’ll be available to view offline.
Google promises that the update will “reach all users worldwide in the coming weeks”. Just had a wee check, but it doesn’t appear to be available just yet.
Er, and when Google says “all users”, it kinda means “users on Froyo or above”.
