'Android' Is Over – Normals Call It 'Galaxy' - True?

Business Insider posted this article http://www.businessinsider.com/android-is-over--normals-call-it-galaxy-2013-2
It should ruffle some feathers.
Normals don't call smartphones powered by Google's mobile operating system "Android" phones.

They call them "Galaxy" phones.

At least, that's the trend.

So there you have it.

It's a pretty safe conclusion to say that A) Galaxy is a more profitable brand than Android, and B) Galaxy owns more mindshare than Android.

Plenty of fancy charts in that article in case reading ain't your hobby...

Those graphs don't support the conclusion that people don't know they are android phones at all. Nor that they have more mindshare just that if someone wants a samsung phone it's quicker to search by galaxy than android. * #

It's worse analysis than looking at the worst phone thread and saying the 7600 must be the best phone as 3 people mentioned it fondly whereas no others got such regard.

*could be a lot of astronomy fans too ;)
# also the graph they use to refer about normals shows android ahead currently and is US only...

Link works fine. Thanks :)
Seems Galaxy is almost on par with Android in some areas...
But I agree - it's hardly conclusive evidence - which may explain the many graphs used :p
On the other hand - I know practically all the phone staff here in town and all the store managers, and they quite frankly admit they've given up on pitching anything but Galaxies - unless there's an outstanding offer or something like the G300. They also say many folks ask for a Galaxy when they actually mean "Android"... so there: a conclusive "huh"?!

The graph doesn't bode well for wp8 or maybe I'd have to use bing for that to do better...

Yes, I'd love to get REAL figures for WP8. No browser usage or shipped nonsense. Proper figures. I don't think it's all that peachy as Elop and shareholders want to believe. A couple of 800 users aside (one a store employee who had no choice) I haven't seen anyone with a WP handset.

Don't see us getting those figures though.
Equally not noticed any wp8 owners but not always something I'd note, seen a fair few note owners as I mention the word, seen two 710 owners.
