Android - put new apps on the home screen

Just got an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace) and no idea what I'm doing lol!

How do I add apps to one of the homescreens?

when I tried to send an answer to a text it just said "sending failed". Why? and also gave no chance to resend....why not? My old Samsung Chat did.

Why in this thread? What phone? No signal? Too long? Wrong number? New sim? Mate, we aren't psychic here. We can only help if/when there's enough info. And sometimes stuff just doesn't work. Which is why it's called stuff.

Either you press on an empty bit of homescreen which will bring up a menu offering to add apps, widgets or bookmarks, etc... OR: while in the app "drawer" (the main app menu) you press and hold an icon and the icon will be copied to a homescreen.
