Why do Android updates get stuck?

Some of the apps I've got set to update automatically get stuck and never update! Anyone else have that problem? How do I switch them back to manual?!

Sure way to turn off updates is to switch on WiFi only updating.
Even without auto update and with notifications turned off some Google apps managed to get updated somehow. WiFi only seems to do the trick.

Go the the Market.

Menu > Settings > Untick "Auto-Update Apps".

Oh and as for why they sometimes get stuck, I have no idea. It just seems to be a long running bug with the Android Market.

pepsiplunge,
hi :)
A tip: disable all autoupdates. You never know what happens when an app is
updated. I've experienced problems when perfectly good apps suddenly misbehave. Or features you like get disappeared etc etc.
Always read changelogs and recent user reviews.

Jan, once again giving sound advice :). I don't let any of my apps update of their own accord, god knows what you're letting yourself in for :p.
