Android YouTube app that'll keep playing when I lock my phone?

Is there an Android YouTube app that'll keep playing when I lock my phone? I have some playlists made up.

There is one i use called PVStar+

It's free. Can play music when the screen is locked via youtube. Even has a dedicated music mode. Also supports other video sites.

Recommend it 100%

Alternatively there is a hack on XDA that allows you to enable it on the standard Youtube app.

MX player can play behind lockscreen, no? So, use the mobile site and open vids with MX?
Just a guess. Not a youtube fan tbh

The standard Android YT player used to play when locked, they disabled the feature a few years ago, presumably to stop people using YT as a free music streaming service.

Update: it's not the latest (massively improved) version of the YT app. It's the older, less good version. Then again, if HD via 3G and/or playback with the screen turned off mean that much to you, it's still worth a download.

Yeh, HD over 3G really is nice to have on some videos.

(Especially to show off.....)

It's a good hack to have though :)

I want both, I want to keep my updated version and have this hacked, older version installed separately. Unfortunately, this isn't possible :(.

The HD over 3G thing will be especially useful when Three (and therefore I) get 4G...HD video is, after all, pretty much what 4G is designed for.

I thought 4G was introduced to get Kevin Bacon more screen time????

Or is it the other way around...
