App reviews coming soon

App reviews coming soonWe’ve a combined feature slash deal slash app review preview type thing right here. Is there no end to my talents? Ahem.

Recent app reviews have been fairly underwhelming, with the notable exception of N.O.V.A. 3. Well, I’ve gone and grabbed a bunch of decidedly promising stuff from the App Store, and I’m hoping we might see some more 5-star gaming.

A couple of the games are new, a couple are/were on sale, and one in particular has been hiding on my iPad for several months.

Ready? Let’s rock!

App reviews coming soonBatman Arkham City Lockdown

Bah! Batman Arkham City Lockdown was recently down to a ridiculous 69p, but it’s gone back up to £3.99 as of today. Sonofa… You couldn’t have waited another 24 hours, guys?

A quick scout around the cyberweb suggests Batman Arkham City Lockdown borrows quite heavily from Infinity Blade. Well, there are certainly worse games to rip off. Let’s just hope Batman Arkham City Lockdown pulls it off.

Price: £3.99 @ App Store

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

App reviews coming soonAvengers Initiative

Normally £4.99, Avengers Initiative is currently down to a significantly more reasonable £1.99.

Avengers Initiative unashamedly emulates the Infinity Blade experience, ‘cept it’s set in the world of Marvel. Sound good? It is.

Oh, avoid if you have an iPod touch fourth gen or earlier. They’re not supported for some reason.

Price: £1.99 @ App Store

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad (3rd generation) and iPad Wi-Fi + 4G. Requires iOS 4.1 or later.

App reviews coming soonBad Piggies

Set in the world of Angry Birds (sort of), Bad Piggies puts the evil green pigs from the aforementioned in the spotlight.

While Angry Birds is very much focused on destroying stuff, Bad Piggies is all about building.

Er, I’ve yet to play it, so that’s your lot for now.

Price: 69p @ App Store, or £1.99 (HD)

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

App reviews coming soonRayman Jungle Run

I have a bunch of Rayman games that I’ve never played, including Rayman 2 (Dreamcast) and, er, some sort of Vita game. Incidentally, I still haven’t played my Vita yet. Six months in a cupboard. Oh dear.

Anyway! Rayman Jungle Run has been getting some rather ridiculous (in a good way) reviews, so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.

Price: £1.99 @ App Store

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

App reviews coming soonGhost Trick: Phantom Detective

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a port of a Nintendo DS game from Capcom. Yep, it’s, like, a proper console game, huzzah! It’s all very weird and Japanese and stuff.

Don’t be fooled by Ghost Trick’s price tag, however. While it’s initially free to download, you’ll have to fork out at least £6.99 for the remaining chapters (or 3x £2.99).

Price: free @ App Store

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later.

Stay tuned for those reviews. Avengers Initiative will probably be first. Tomorrow. Probably.

I sent the first paragraph to the Guinness Book folks. I'm sure they find a category for it :p
