Could App Store apps contains malware?
I downloaded a video messaging app that was asking for access to Contacts etc.
Are App Store apps checked for malware before being released?

Yes, App Store apps are 'checked for Malware'. indeed. But Obviously, now and again, the hacksters are one step ahead. It's not of Android proportions, but in the past bad apps were caught in Apple's App Store.
Now, a messaging app obviously NEEDS access to your contacts. But if you're not sure, it's always good to do a websearch for "that app + malware"...
And remember: 10 million+ Americans have some sort of security clearance. Now add prism, and disgruntled employees... Your privacy is kaputt, anyways.
