Apple aims to pump out 40m iPads in 2011

Apple aims to pump out 40m iPads in 2011According to sources of Digitimes, Apple aims to ship a whopping 12 million iPad 2s in Q2 of 2011. That’s a heck of a lot of iPads, though it remains to be seen if supply will meet demand.

Early adaptors will scrap over the 2-3 million units shipping this month. The iPad 2 is released on March 11 in the States, with us Brits getting a slice of the action a couple of weeks later.

An estimated 21.5-24 milion units will ship in the latter half of the year, including the traditionally lucrative Christmas period. That’d bring the 2011 total to just under 40 million. Jings.

The iPad 2 adds front and rear cameras, HDMI out and faster processing. It’ll be available in black and white.
