Alongside the iPhone 5, iOS 6 and new iPod touches (yum), Apple also launched the new iPod nanos on Wednesday night, and you’d be forgiven for thinking that they look a little familiar.
Apple naysayers across the cybernet claim the Californians have balls-out ripped off (or “slavishly copied”, if you want to get dickish) the Lumia 800/900. But did they?
There’s no denying the similarities. There are plenty of images flying around showing the iPod nano and Lumia 800/900 side by side, and they’re easily confused. Well, at a glance, anyway.
Indeed, the Windows Phone diehards at WMPoweruser describe the iPod nano as a “cheap Chinese rip-off of Lumia”. However, their headline is just a tad misleading, almost suggesting that Apple has openly admittted the Lumia influence: "Apple Announces New iPod Inspired By Nokia Lumia Devices". Brilliant.
However, prolific tweeter Stuart Gibson quipped: “What’s that about the Nano looking like the Lumia?” - alongside this image. Amusing stuff, eh?
It’ll be interesting to see if either company comments or makes legal maneuvers, but we reckon it’s probably safe to file this one under “Comedy”.
