Apple and Samsung are behaving very much like the petulant children of the tech world, repeatedly poking each other and claiming that the other one started it. They’re not the only ones at it, true, but they’re definitely the worst.
There are literally dozens of Apple-Samsung cases (er, legal cases that is) being contested around the globe, and heck – why not throw another one into the mix? Now Apple is unhappy about Samsung’s smartphone and tablet covers.
It’s not entirely clear which cases Apple is pointing the finger at, but at least one is for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, while the others are smartphone covers. Amusingly, the covers are said to infringe on 10 of Apple’s – wait for it – patents. Great stuff.
Funnier still (if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry), Apple’s complaint came at the tail end of a hearing in Australia in which the Californians attempted to delay an entirely unrelated proceeding.
However, Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett told Team Cook that the trial for Samsung’s 3G-related complaint will go ahead in March as scheduled, despite Apple’s lawyers pouting and stamping their feet.
Samsung reportedly opted for an early trial in lieu of a temporary injunction against the iPad and iPhone.
A similar trial will take place in the States in May or June next year.
