Apple iPad 2
Control your Xbox with your iPad
The My Xbox Live (link to App Store) app received an update to version 1.6 yesterday, and iPad owners can finally access a feature that’s been available to iPhone users for a while.
Yep, with the free My Xbox Live app, iPad users can now control their Xbox consoles with a big fat 9.7in display. Glorious!

Apple stunned the world (slight exaggeration) when it revealed the Smart Cover’s magnet-flavoured goodness. Close the cover, and the iPad’s display locks. Open it back up, and you’re good to go. Smooth.
Now it appears that the Asus Nexus 7 might feature the same functionality, if a cheeky video is anything to go by.

It’s arguably a slightly silly question where the Asus Nexus 7 concerned, as pricing means the two can happily co-exist, much like Porsche and Skoda (no offense intended to the Nexus 7). But, at less than half the price of the iPad, is the Asus Nexus 7 more than half as good?

Sick of hearing about the stupid Asus Nexus 7 tablet and the even stupider Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) update? As “Head Apple Fanboy”, I know I am.

You know what they say about imitation, right? Yeah, it’s right there in the headline, guy.
According to Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White, imitation is the name of the game with the Microsoft Surface tablet, announced on Monday. He reckons it borrows rather heavily from something called the... “iPad”? Never heard of it.

In a headline that’s sure to make Jan’s head spin, IDC is predicting that 222.1 million tablets will ship in 2016. I think it’s fair to say they’ll be reassessing that figure on a regular basis until then.
There are a few other semi-interesting predictions, however, including the suggestion that the iPad will grab a slightly larger slice of the tablet pie in 2012 than it did last year.

The US State Department has been scouting around for a device to use in overseas language-education programs, and the iPad has failed to meet its lofty criteria.
In fact, the iPad lost out on the $16.5 million contract to none other than the humble Amazon Kindle Touch.

But, much like the arrival of Siri last October, Monday’s iO6 keynote – for various reasons – left some users crying: “What about us?!” It’s all a bit of a cross-sectional nightmare.

Despite being subject to strict non-disclosure agreements, developers immediately began flooding the cyberweb with screenshots of iOS 6 following last night’s WWDC keynote.
A couple of leaked iOS 6 screenshots in particular confirm that TomTom provides data for Apple’s new Google-less Maps app.

It’s all too easy to ignore that little red circle on the App Store icon that cries out “update me!”, but over the past couple of weeks there have been some sweet releases.
