The iPad 3 rumour machine has been to cranked to 11, and will inevitably remain at full throttle till Apple announces the bloody thing.
In the meantime, we’ve got some spanking new iPad 3 rumour juice from Bloomberg. Well, when I say “spanking new”, what I really mean is: “much the same as everything else we’ve been told to date”. Still, let’s check it out.
According to “three people familiar with the product”, the iPad 3 will boast an HD display and quad-core processor, and will be released in March. Yeah, that’s pretty much what we’re expecting, man.
The rumoured resolution is 2048x1536, which doesn’t quite yield a high enough PPI to be considered Retina. It remains to be seen if Apple will use the term Retina, or simply stick to HD.
The sources add that the pixels are small enough to make images on the iPad 3’s display “look like printed material”, while videos will begin playing almost instantly thanks to enhanced graphics processing goodness.
Our transatlantic cousins will also enjoy LTE connectivity, bringing faster data action.
Mass production will reportedly start this month, with factories running 24 hours a day in China. We’re also told that manufacturing will stop over China’s Lunar New Year holiday. That’s contrary to a recent rumour that suggested workers would be asked to reduce their holidays.
In any case, it’s looking like March for the iPad 3. Probably.
