We had October 15 earmarked in our diaries for the debut of Apple’s next generation iPads, but we’re being told we’ll have to wait a further seven days for iLaunch.
The latest rumours suggest it’ll be October 22 for the grand unveiling of the inevitable iPad 5 and iPad mini 2.
That’s the word from AllThingsD with credit going to “People familiar with Apple’s plans.” Presumably they wish to remain anonymous lest Tim Cook pop a cap in their bottoms. Er, as in a bullet. Moving on!
Otherwise, it’s the same old story. The iPad 5 will take its design cue from the iPad mini, resultantly being thinner and lighter and having significantly less bezel than the decidedly beastly iPad 4.
The headline feature in terms of iPad 5 specs will likely be the spanking new 64-bit Apple A7 processor, as found on the iPhone 5S.
Things are still up in the air as far as the iPad mini goes. We’re not sure if it’ll come with a Retina display, and it could be the Apple A6 or A7 processor – depending on whom you listen to.
Finally, one or both of the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 could potentially come with the divisive fingerprint scanner.
In any case, it sounds like it’ll all become a reality in just under two weeks. Oh, and if October 22 is ringing a bell, that’s when Nokia World gets underway in Abu Dhabi. Oops.
