The third generation iPad was finally made official last Wednesday, introducing – as expected – a 2048 x 1536 Retina display, alongside a dual-core A5X processor and 5MP camera.
On Friday I detailed how I sat like an idiot immediately following the announcement, repeatedly refreshing the melted Apple site and finally getting my order through at 1am. And now I’m kinda glad I did.
See, as Phil was saying the other day, the shipping time stated on the Apple site has now shot up to 2-3 weeks. That’s not quite as bad as last year, but means – for those of you desperate to get your hands on the new iPad ASAP – you’ll now have to hit the store on Friday if you haven’t pre-ordered.
Apple tells USA Today: "Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased. Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date."
And hey, if you thought I was bad with my incessant refreshing, check out the guys SlashGear bumped into outside the Apple store on Regent Street. Oh dear.
