Well Apple, that didn't last long did it.... iPhone5 loses it's top spot before launch (to LG....)

Feels like I just finished typing that the iPhone5 was the fastest phone to run in GeekBench, but it looks like it's been overtaken already.....

Geekbench Scores:

Apple iPhone5: 1601
LG Optimus G: 1723

Might be worth mentioning that the i5 overtook the S3 by a margin of around 2.5% and the forums lit up with the mocking roars of iFans. Now the LG has surpassed the i5 with a margin of 7%; what do you say to that??? Muahahahhaa

And PhanDroids..... remember, you're leader is an LG..... be quiet.

Just to add, these look like single benchmarks for single phones. They are also just benchmarks and don't necessarily equate to real world usage. But it's interesting to see them up against each other in the only form we have currently available to us.

I guess no need to contact TED Talks or the Nobel committee? :p

I say that GeekBench is complete rubbish.

LG benchmark breakdown - take a look at Linpack - 4x S3.

It's it known that 2xKrait is faster than S3, so it's expected that 4xKrait to be more than twice as fast as S3.

HTC One X beats S3 in Antutu, everyone knows that S3 is much faster phone.

It's is nice to have Geekbench results than nothing at all. Whoever tested iPhone 5 is either complete moron or Geekbench favors iPhone. To have a sample of the phone in your hands and run only Geekbench? Beyond stupidity ...

I would be tempted to suspect that quadrant etc are just better at hiding their stats.... I'd be amazed if they used geekbench alone, especially given the absolute randomness of it's results (same phone varying in 100's)

There are result for JavaScript here. Some really, really goooood numbers and much better for comparison with competition.

Not very useful - I have not seen JavaScript lag on my 2 year old DHD.

Slight correction - Apple never had a top spot.
Arena released GeekBench scores and iPhone is behind One X.

Keep in mind that One X used in benchmarks running latest update, not original software it was shipped with. After update One X beats S3 in Quadrant and Antutu.

Number 5 at release date?

Number 5 at release date?

The iPhone 5 just got f*cked up. On the basis that it'll be 12 months to the next iPhone, the fact the iPhone is dual-core and the S3 is quad-core is irrelevant in the real-world. I'm not surprised the S3 is more powerful, though. The flagship Galaxy device is always more powerful than its rival iPhone.
