Just when we thought we had Apple’s iDevice launch pattern nailed down, it throws a spanner in the works with the iPad mini and iPad 4, not to mention those rumours of a summer iPhone 5S launch.
As such, we’re not sure when to expect the next iPad/new new new iPad/fifth generation iPad, but we’re told that a 128GB model is – or might be – in the works.
Before we go getting too excited, the 128GB iPad is thought to be an addition to the fourth generation range, as opposed to a brand new beast. So we’re not talking fifth generation iPad just yet.
Sources of 9to5mac simply say this new iPad will be available in black or white, with or without cellular capabilities, and in packs of 10 for educational institutions.
Really, at this stage, the 128GB model is simply being inferred. No one is specifically saying “128GB iPad!”
However, an SKU from a “high-profile US retailer” mentions an “Ultimate” iPad, with the existing 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models being “Good”, “Better” and “Best” respectively.
To be fair to 9to5mac, they stress that this is all conjecture, and that there’s no word on a new iPad launching any time soon.
Following Apple’s current pricing convention, we reckon the 128GB iPad would cost £639 Wi-Fi only, or £739 cellular. Y’know, if it does exist.
