We’re kind of enjoying the tit for tat battle between Apple and Samsung. Despite the serious legal implications, the two giants have come across like petulant kids at times.
On Friday, at a hearing in San Jose, California, Judge Lucy Koh put her years of legal experience to good use when she asked: “Can’t we all just get along here?” Koh suggested the dispute could be settled out-of-court, adding: "I will send you with box of chocolates, whatever."
Apple’s attorney, Harold McElhinny, revealed that execs “at the highest levels” were aware of the situation. When asked if it was possible to “get them together”, McElhinny confirmed: “They are in fact meeting and talking.”
Apple recently re-worded its initial complaint, and extended the list of devices that it claims have ripped off the “look and feel” of the iPhone and iPad. That was largely seen as a knee-jerk reaction to Samsung’s audacious request to see the iPhone 5 and iPad 3.
We’re not entirely sure if the out-of-court talks necessarily signify the end of in-court action, but, either way, we’re bound to hear lots more on this in the coming weeks.
