Apple testing 1.5in OLED iWatch display

Apple testing 1.5in OLED iWatch displayThe rumour mill doesn’t seem to know quite where to focus its iAttention at the moment. Later in the year, we’re expecting the fifth gen iPad (which I scribbled about earlier today), the iPhone 5S, an iPad mini 2 with Retina display and a budget iPhone in a plastic shell.

iDevice #5 is the iWatch, and we’re hearing that it might come rocking a teeny tiny 1.5in (diagonally) display.

That’s the good word according to Japanese-language blog Macotakara, which in turn points the finger at Taiwanese site Economic Times.

The proposed 1.5in iWatch display size is a little smaller than the previously touted 1.8in, but the same as the rumoured Samsung Galaxy Altius smartwatch.

The sources say the iWatch is at the testing stage at the moment, with RITEK subsidiary RiTdisplay producing the 1.5in OLED display.

Not a great deal is known about the iWatch, though it’s expected to offer much of the same functionality as the Apple iPhone (and by extension the iPad and iPod touch).

A rumour from back in February time suggested no less than 100 engineers were beavering away on the iWatch, which will probably launch later this year.

What if that is just some new iPod Shuffle thingy? (okay, I'm grasping at straws - I don't get the 'need' for an iWatch. Even an artificially created need)

What happened to Apple thinking OLED was crap?
