As I pointed out before, somewhere, at some point, with the iPhone 5 measuring 4in diagonally and the iPad mini coming in at 7.9in, that leaves a perfect space in the middle (6in or thereabouts) for the inevitable Apple phablet.
That’s pretty much the story from some dude who scribbles for The Wall Street Journal, with Apple said to be testing iPhablets up to six inches in size.
Apple CEO Tim Cook dismissed the notion of an iPhablet as recently as May this year, saying that such large-screened devices come with too many “trade-offs”.
However, Cook concluded: “We haven’t so far; that doesn’t shut off the future.” Yeah, we all know it’s coming, big man. It’s just a matter of time.
Of course, that time almost certainly won’t be next week, when the iPhone 5S launches, possibly alongside the budget iPhone 5C.
But hold onto your hats... “BREAKING” news! The Wall Street Journal’s Ian Sherr tweets: “Apple testing iPhone screens as large as six inches, sources say. Screen size not expected for new devices this month. Story soon.”
Yeah, that doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, Sherr.
And heck, as some guy called Jordan W Huxely rightly replies: “Apple tests a lot of products ... the majority never see the light of day ... only time to be excited is when the [sic] announce it!”
