Apple to unveil two new iPad 3s in January

Apple to unveil two new iPad 3s in JanuaryWell, well, well. Ye olde rumour mill really can’t decide what the heck is going on with the next generation of iPads. Will there be a smaller 7.85 model? Is it coming in April? March? February?

Digitimes is going one better, and suggests that not one but two iPad 3s will be unveiled in – wait for it – January 2012.

Interestingly, the latest whisperings from out east concur with the recent statement from analyst Brian Blair, who reckons the existing iPad 2 will hang around as a budget option.

As for the new iPad 3s, both will have 9.7in displays with 1536x2048 resolution, and Samsung will provide quad-core processing goodness in the form of the spanking new A6 chip.

According to Digitimes, one of the iPad 3s will sit in the mid-range with a 5MP camera, while the high-end chap will have an 8MP shooter. Er, other than that, they’re pretty much identical.

Finally, the sources say the iPad 3s will be unveiled at iWorld in San Francisco on January 26.

We’ve sprinkled a liberal dose of salt on our Cornflakes, but… you never know.

This has been denied by people with sources close to Apple already. Not going to happen.

Digitimes have never been an accurate source, all they care about is hits on their website.
