As 2012 draws to a close, it’s time for everyone and his dog to publish Best Whatever of the Year lists. In the coming weeks, we’ll be looking at Best Jan Rants of 2012.
In the meantime, some company called “Apple” from California has listed what it considers the best App Store apps of the year.
iPhone App of the Year goes to Airbnb, which has apparently “revolutionised travel” by allowing you to connect “with people who have space to rent”. Runner-Up goes to Hailo, which allows you to summon black cabs in London via your iPhone.
Over on the iPad, it’s sketch app Paper by FiftyThree taking the top spot, with recipe app Green Kitchen – Healthy Vegetarian Recipes in second.
On the iPad, The Room takes Game of the Year (it’s in the review pile), with Eufloria HD grabbing Runner-Up.
Best-selling apps were Pages and Whatsapp for the iPad and iPhone respectively, while the top free apps were Skype for iPad and YouTube for iPhone. Of course, YouTube famously disappeared as a default app in iOS 6.
