Jonathan Ive, Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple, is reportedly considering a return to the UK.
Ive, principal designer of the iPhone, iPod and iPad, among others, currently lives with his wife in San Francisco. The pair are said to want their twin boys to attend school back in England.
Jonathan, who was awarded a CBE in 2006 for his contribution to the design industry, was one of the front-runners to replace Steve Jobs – who’s currently sidelined with a "hormonal imbalance" - as Apple's CEO. Needless to say a return to the UK would take Jony out of the running.
An unnamed friend told The Times: "Unfortunately he is just too valuable to Apple and they told him in no uncertain terms that if he headed back to England he would not be able to sustain his position with them."
But don't expect to see Jony down at the Job Centre if Apple does let him go. The Sunday Times estimates his fortune at £80 million.
