What happens with apps if I buy a new Android phone?

If I get a new Android phone, can I move my apps across using the SD card? Would that work?

Using an App like Astro File Manager you can backup all your apps that you have installed, to your SD card. use the new card in your new phone, download Astro and restore. Otherwise you'll have to download them all from Market again.

Forgot to mention, if you need to backup your data too, then you'll need something like Titanium backup, but that requires a rooted phone at both ends to work. Titanium backups apps, data and system data (i.e. phonebook, SMS messages etc)

Assuming you stick with the same google account, you do not need to pay again.
