At the launch of the original Lenovo Yoga tablets last year, Ashton Kutcher was – astoundingly – revealed as an official “Lenovo Product Engineer”.
There was no mention of Kutcher at the launch of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 HD+ last week, but that’s possibly because he’s busy working away on a new range of "special edition" Lenovo smartphones. You couldn’t make this stuff up.
Lenovo’s Chief Marketing Officer, David Roman, tells re/code that Kutcher is still very much on board with the Chinese manufacturer, with a focus on the UI of the upcoming Lenovo smartphone range.
“I know on one level, it sounds corny, but it is real,” says Dave. “He not only sees himself as an engineer, but he is an engineer. If he sees a problem, he wants to solve it.”
Speaking last October, Kutcher crooned: “This partnership with Lenovo brings together my love of technology and design that makes your life better. I can’t wait to dig in and help Lenovo develop future mobile computing products.”
In Two and a Half Men, Kutcher plays a billionaire entrepreneur, while he recently portrayed the late Steve Jobs in the appropriately titled movie, Jobs.
In other Ashton Kutcher news, he’s seemingly engaged to husky-voiced hottie Mila Kunis. Well in, bro.
UPDATE: Lenovo's Executive Director of External Communications got in touch to say: "Please be advised that the development agreement Lenovo has with Ashton Kutcher is for tablets only, and not for smartphones." Bad re/code!
