The Asus Eee Pad Slider SL101 really has been sliding its way (geddit?) towards launch for an eternity now. Previous updates spoke of an August launch, others of an autumn launch.
Well, it's now August, and it may as well be autumn, and now we have not the Eee Pad Slider SL101 itself, but instead a landing page for the slate, complete with a photo gallery to go with it.
For all that the landing page does reveal, and that includes not only the aforementioned pics but also a good few specs too, what we don't get is any kind of release date, so we're no further along on that count – to get that out of the way now.
If you are still interested, though, the specs inclue a 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a 10.1in display with 178-degree viewing angle which slides up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard.
You also get a full-size USB port, a microSD card reader and one year's unlimited Asus WebStorage cloud-based storage, while the SL101 comes with Android 3.1 on board, upgradeable to Android 3.2.
That all sounds fair and good, and we reckon Asus is on to a good thing with the Eee Pad Slider. But we do have to raise an objection to the cringeworthy slogan that Asus' marketing bunnies have chosen to bestow on the undeserving SL101. Here it comes now: “my multiple lifestyle, I decide”.
Words fail us. No, wait... they don't: “complete and utter nonsense, I decide”.
