Asus MeMO Pad duo set for March 7 UK release, £129 for 7 inches

Asus MeMO Pad duo set for March 7 UK release, £129 for 7 inchesGood lord, Asus has been busy of late. We’ve just been introduced to the UK-bound Asus PadFone Infinity and Asus FonePad, but we’re set to see two others hit shelves before the end of next week.

They are the 7in and 10in Asus MeMO Pads (ME172V and ME301T respectively), and you’ll be able to grab them in the UK from March 7.

The 7in Asus MeMO Pad has a resolution of 1024 x 600 and is priced just £129, while the 10in Asus MeMO Pad has a 1280 x 800 resolution with a price tag of £249.

The larger Asus MeMO Pad adopts a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, while the smaller guy runs with a 1GHz VIA WM8950 chipset. The former has a 5MP rear camera and 1.2MP front shooter, while the latter opts for a simple 1MP rear snapper (nothing on the front). In both cases, it's Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) on OS duties.

There’s nothing particularly exciting about the Asus MeMO Pads, hence the reasonable pricing. The Asus PadFone Infinity, on the other hand, is a beastly smartphone/tablet hybrid, while the Asus FonePad is a 7in tablet with phone capabilities.

Fancy one of the Asus MeMO Pads? You’ll be able to purr-chase ‘em from Amazon, Currys, PC World and Tesco.

"Both Asus MeMO Pads adopt quad-core Tegra 3 processors" - care to cite any sources?

I was under the impression that the 7" ran on this chip from VIA

also no rear camera on the 7"

My ears pricked up when I heard about this, mainly because I'm looking for a 10-inch tablet to stream movies on via my phone when I'm away from home. However, that screen resolution is half of that offered by Google's Nexus 10. How about the Tegra 3 processor? Any idea how it compares with the Nexus's dual-core Cortex-A15? Or its 2GB RAM?
